I (Helen Swann) sent emails to the Australian Government, Foreign Affairs And Trade on the 11th of February 2023 at 5.43 pm in relation to Genocide in West Papua aswell as the topic of Philip Mehrtens kidnapping situation. I recieved a reply on the 6th of March 2023 at 2.22pm. Response is from Robert Sutton Director -Indonesia on behalf of Minister For Foreign Affairs is as follows..

I sent an email to the following list of people -

SUBJECT 

West Papua needs their full independence. Kiwi is held hostage hours blood is in your hands. Give West Papua back their freedom. They are dying to protect their country and people!! Help!!

There is a genocide in West Papua. Indonesia has taken over half of the Melanesian race and made them disappear under Indonesia. The act of free choice was a sham as all the major governments are funding Indonesia to genocide. West Papua has the world's biggest goldmines, but Indonesia is committing ecocide as well as genocide on Papuan people since 1960s.  

Over 500 000 Papuan have men killed including men women and children. Papuan students have been torched by Indonesian military with snakes in their dorm, being locked in the dorms and tear gassed, arrested, and had they're funds cut off when studding abroad. 

They want their independence from Indonesia as they were once a Dutch colony aswell as Indonesia, but only Indonesia gained their independence and West Papua was rejected due to the New York Agreement imposed on them for the gold mines. Free port mine and Grassberg are the two gold and copper mines in West Papua. 

The West Papuan Liberation Army have now a New Zealand citizen in hostage and are demanding Indonesia of full independence from Indonesia. West Papua claims due to New Zealand, Australia, U.K and USA being involved with the genocide and often in their country working in the goldmines, they have issued a warning to execute foreigners who come to their war zones, they named the war zones it's all over the internet. 

West Papua demands full Independence from Indonesia they have over 600 different tribes over 60 000 years old. And currently are all forced to be recognised as Indonesian when they are 100% Melanesian and they are proud of their race and culture. Yet, if they fly their own West Papuan country flag Indonesia puts them in jail with for 15 years.  

So many Papuan are being killed, torched and arrested and they don't get justice. Journalists are banned in Indonesia, even the Balibo 5 Australian journalists was killed in line off duty in Indonesia and they found no justice, it was covered up.  

East Timor this happened to and they gained independence after much killing of the East Timor people. 

Maluku Island are Melanesian people who are also fighting for independence from Indonesia. 

Biak Island, many Melanesian were killed and body's thrown in the sea by Indonesia and no justice.  

United nations calls this an act of free choice. 

MSG Melanesian spearhead group, West Papua are not allowed to join. When they are Melanesian people.  

I urge for a thorough investigation in Indonesia and West Papua and plead to give West Papua and all Melanesian their freedom and full independence. This is all under the act if colonialism but to my awareness colonialism was banned in 1960. It's 2023 today and that's how long West Papua has been in resistance for. Too long. 

I am a West Papuan campaigner from Western Australia originally born in Fiji Islands also Melanesian country the same as West Papua, PNG, Maluku and Biak Islands. Accept Fiji is independent and Republic. I'm from the Pacific region and South Pacific. West Papua is in West Pacific region. 

Please give me any information as to how we can all find resolve for Melanesian people in the Pacific region where West Papua can have their long over due independence and the killings do not have to escalate to foreigners being captured arrested and killed in the crossfire. 

Please save the NZ citizens life, and negotiate with West Papua and Indonesia it's only getting worse. When it doesn't have to, all they want is their independence which is rightfully theirs any way they are native to West Papua Indonesia is not. The fate of the New Zealand pilot is in your hands & request for true leadership. 

I am looking for a unique parliamentary representative – a true leader – one who is prepared to break ranks with the past and who will state that you will no longer support Indonesia’s genocide in West Papua. 

1. That you will no longer protect Indonesia’s genocide in West Papua.

2. That you will no longer support the training of Indonesian soldiers and police. 

3. That you will no longer support the export of armaments to Indonesia, and you are calling for the export of armaments to be immediately stopped. 

4. That the New Zealand Government must cease its unprincipled, dishonourable, and even unlawful support as a criminal accessory to the Indonesian Government’s illegal invasion/occupation and annexation of West Papua. 

5. That you are calling for Indonesia to unconditionally leave West Papua. 

6. That you do not endorse Indonesia’s fictional claim to the western half of the island of New Guinea. 

7. That you recognise that West Papua is not and never has been a part of southeast Asia. 

8. That you recognise West Papua as a sovereign nation-state as declared by the West Papuan people through Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM) on July 1, 1971. 

 9. That you recognise that past American and Australian governments assisted Indonesia in the illegal invasion and occupation of West Papua. 

10. That you recognise that New Zealand governments are culpable as accessories in the 61-year history of Indonesia’s relentless orchestration of crimes against humanity including genocide, ethnocide, and ecocide. 

11. That you recognise that the Australian Government in 1969 prevented West Papuan representatives from reaching the United Nations in New York with their intention of making the nations of the UN General Assembly aware of the Indonesian occupation force’s crimes against humanity being committed and that the vote for self-determination to take place under a vicious military invasion-occupation force was illegal and that Indonesia had already decided before the vote that there would be no recognition of West Papuan nation-state sovereignty. 

12. That, should Prime Minister Chris Hipkins fail in this elementary act of principle and compassion to support the victims of Indonesia’s crimes against humanity in West Papua … fail to declare the New Zealand Government’s support for West Papua’s nation-state sovereignty … fail to condemn the Indonesian Government’s illegitimate occupation of West Papua … fail to acknowledge all the conditions listed above, then you will publicly declare that Prime Minister Chris Hipkins no longer has your parliamentary support and that you intend to lobby for an immediate Labour Party replacement of Prime Minister Chris Hipkins and that if this fails to succeed you will declare your resignation from the government and from the New Zealand Labour Party. 

13. That you declare your support for a prime minister and a government that will lobby the UN for the immediate recognition of West Papua’s nation-state sovereignty. 

Parliamentarians, I realise this is a big decision, but for God’s sake, with 500,000 victims including 150,000 children, how can you remain complicit, let alone be complicit in the first place? Is there no one in Wellington with an integrity of heart and soul instead of the cowardly behaviour of apologists and profiteers.
